About us

A New Beginning

Supported by fervent prayers, faithful discernment, and a sure hope for the future, the Global Methodist Church is a Holy Spirit inspired movement. We invite you to join us in making disciples who make disciples, believing that Jesus Christ is the way, the Truth, and the life. As we witness in both word and deed, we envision a Church where all are welcomed and encouraged by faith.

Meet Pastor Choi

Welcome to Pastor Choi, his wife HyeJin, Caleb, Abigail, and Elisha!

I grew up attending the Korean Methodist Church. My mother is a very strict Korean Methodist woman. She always encouraged me to go to church. I was not very involved in church activities when I began attending church. However, my Sunday school teacher was consistently welcoming and caring towards me. I was influenced by her great love. She did not know me before I attended her class, yet she was always kind to me. When I was experiencing very difficult times during my middle school years and my father’s business was suffering financial difficulties, she was my strength.

During my family’s financial difficult time, my parents were distressed trying to work and pay bills for their business. It was impossible for them to take good care of me. On my 15th birthday, no one remembered my special day. I expected something from my parents, and I was waiting for them to surprise me. Finally, someone rang my doorbell. I thought that it was my parents, but it was my Sunday school teacher. It was more than 90 degrees outside, and there was no elevator in our apartment building (we lived on the fifth floor). The teacher’s shirt was saturated, and she had two big bags in her hands. I was speechless. She stood with doorway and said, “Hello, Choi! God loves you so much. Happy Birthday!”

After she left, I did not know why, but I cried for a long time. I knew that my guest was not my teacher, but the incognito Christ. Then, my questioning started, ‘Why does she do all these things for me? Why does God love me so much? Who is Jesus?’ I had to find the answer; reason alone was not enough. I went to my church and stayed in the prayer room for more than two hours in silence. I finally surrendered and confessed my past sins with tears. I did not understand why I did that, but I knew deep within me that I needed to. After my confession, I could believe everything that I had been taught in church. It was powerful and irresistible. Above all, I realized that God was with me always. That day, I met Jesus the Christ, not my Sunday School Jesus, and through repentance received Him as my Savior.

Later, I reflected on my conversion story and thankfully realized that it was the work of the Holy Spirit.
My lovely brothers and sisters! God is so good! Even today, Jesus is knocking on the doors of people’s hearts. Let God love us fully!
And, walk with Him. Then, many people will know God
through God’s love within you.

Here I am! I stand at the door and knock.
If anyone hears my voice and opens the door,
I will come in and eat with him, and he with me.
(Revelation 3:20)
